Cupping

Traditional Chinese Fire Cupping

imagesCA6XDAEJCupping is an ancient therapy used in Traditional Chinese Medicine that you may not have heard of before, but one that can provide many benefits – from pain relief to relief from respiratory disorders.

How it works: Using fire, a partial vacuum is created in special cups placed on the skin. This suction pulls the skin up into the cup, which stimulates the surface of the skin and underlying tissues, invigorates the flow of blood, activates the lymphatic system, promotes the flow of Qi (energy) throughout the body. This treatment will help to relieve pain, increase circulation, clear the veins, arteries and capillaries, clear stretch marks, strengthen the immune system, and help to release tensions and toxins that are trapped deep in the body (up to 4 inches into the tissues!). It is one of the best deep tissue massages available! And it is relatively painless!!  There are two basic styles of cupping: 1) Massage Cupping: a special healing oil is applied to the skin, the cup is applied and glided across the skin. 2) Stationary Cupping: the cups are applied and left on for 20-30 minutes. Please be aware that a cupping treatment will likely leave marks, which are temporary and can last several days. They look like round circular bruises. A small price to pay for the relief and increased energy that you will experience.
